This is Royal Navy Post Captain Jack Aubrey from the Patrick O'Brian novels. I'm more than halfway through the 20 book series and I've been dying to make a "period" portrait of O'Brian's character. Shown here is Jack cir. 1812, a 6ft+ overwieght Post Capt. aboard the H.M.S. Surprise somewhere in the East Indies. I put alot of little details in the drawing from the books some might notice.

This is wonderful. The detail! The scar alone the length of his jaw, the Roman nose, the Nile medal, hair clubbed at the back, and then the ship! Beautifully done.
